Rachel couldn’t help it. Call it the need to meet societal expectations or something in her brain harkening back to what she knew of puritanical America, when people, much less women, weren’t allowed to enjoy sex, but all night long, when she wasn’t feeling giddy, she felt embarrassed and ashamed because of what had happened at the spa. It was stupid, though, because she had kind of been a consenting adult. No, there was no kind of about it; she couldn’t deny that she actually had been consenting, quite consenting. A damned eager beaver even. It wasn’t like he’d raped her. She’d been more than willing.

Just moments into her time on the table, she’d become hot and bothered—and he’d read her like a cheap novel.

By morning, though, after tossing and turning and fretting and not getting nearly the amount of sleep she needed, Rachel felt a little better about it anyway. Yes, it had happened, but she’d enjoyed it. And she was going to accept that for what it was—a weird chance encounter, maybe a sexual connection (but, in all honesty, it was more likely that guy’s shtick, and she was one pleasured woman in a long list of satisfied clientele). More than mere acceptance of the experience, though, she also came to a decision. Some women might have sought this sort of thing out and planned their next adventure, tipping him for all his services. Rachel wasn’t comfortable with that, though. Yes, she realized she should start dating on a regular basis again so she could find someone she wanted to spend time with, but the problem was she’d kind of settled into an easy bubble. Most of her clients were married or older and probably off limits, and her male coworkers were either married or douchebags—or both. And she wasn’t into the singles scene anymore. She was going to have to find new ways to meet members of the opposite sex—her strange sexual encounter convinced her of that. It would be a little awkward at first, but she still had girlfriends living in Colorado Springs who would probably be happy to go out with her if she chose to go to a bar or club.

Or maybe she needed to think outside the box when it came to men.

For now, though, she had one man on her mind and she had to get him out of her head. He might have been her ultimate type, the kind of guy she could imagine spending countless hours with. She’d seen a glimpse of intellect, something that was a complete and utter turn on for her, and physically, the guy was perfect. Her only complaint was his ridiculous nickname. Oh, God, she hoped it was just a nickname, but she’d known enough kids with strange names throughout her time on the planet (including her brother whom her parents had thought, during their hippie phase, would enjoy having the name Blaze his whole life). But Blaze was kind of cool; Spike seemed cheesy. It didn’t matter, though.
